AREAS OF EXPERTISE
PROJECTS
AI & MACHINE LEARNING
PERSONALI'm personally exploring AI development to stay ahead of the technology curve that's reshaping IT infrastructure. Building custom Python chat interfaces with LLaMA 3.2 and Gemma 3 models, experimenting with model fine-tuning, and learning how to integrate AI solutions into existing enterprise systems. This self-directed learning ensures I can guide organizations through AI adoption strategies and implementation.
ENTERPRISE IT OVERHAUL
ASHH INCI led comprehensive IT infrastructure transformation across three business units under the Ashh Inc umbrella. This included implementing Microsoft Business Central and AWS cloud architecture, developing standards for employee on/off-boarding, establishing physical PC workstation and printer standards for both in-person and remote workers, implementing base OS standards (Windows 10/11 domain-joined), and MS365 integration. Achieved 43% cost reduction and 99.9% uptime.

ASHH INCI led the team to migrate from Oracle NetSuite to Microsoft Business Central for over 100-person ($100M per annum) organization. Administered and integrated Microsoft Business Central, enhancing cross-platform data flow and significantly improving system efficiency and reporting accuracy.
GM PLANT FLOOR CONTROLS NETWORK
GM 2019-2020I architected and implemented Cisco TrustSec across multiple General Motors plant floor networks across six GM plants, upgrading switching infrastructure while developing automation scripts and comprehensive documentation.
GM GLOBAL PLANT OPERATIONS
GM 2005-2008I was assigned to review Shanghai-General Motors Joint Ventures network infrastructure and train local staff in GM PFCN network standards in Liu Zhou and Qingdao PRC. I was credited with the redesign and implementation of Shanghai-General Motors Joint Ventures network infrastructure to increase reliability in both locations. During this assignment, I also performed similar network infrastructure work for plants in Bupyeong-gu Incheon, Changwon, and Boryeong Korea, Rayong Thailand, and Melbourne and Adelaide Australia. I configured, supported, and managed Cisco switches and routers (5000, 6500, and 7000 series) while providing project management and performing day-to-day operations for enterprise LAN/WAN communications infrastructures. This three-year assignment gave me invaluable experience in global operations and cross-cultural leadership in high-stakes manufacturing environments.
GM NORTH AMERICAN PLANT OPERATIONS
GM 2005-2008I was credited with the redesign and implementation of network infrastructure at two major General Motors facilities to increase reliability and capacity. This included the Spring Hill Saturn Assembly plant (6.8 million square foot facility) and the Marion Metal Fabrication plant (2.1 million square foot facility). I configured, supported, and managed Cisco switches and routers (5000, 6500, and 7000 series) while providing project management and performing day-to-day operations for enterprise LAN/WAN communications infrastructures. This domestic experience prepared me for the subsequent international assignments across the Asia-Pacific region.
STATEWIDE ACCESSIBILITY NETWORK REDESIGN
CACDHHI was recruited to redesign and implement a statewide network infrastructure serving Michigan's deaf and hard of hearing community. Working with legacy systems that struggled to meet the growing demand, I architected a comprehensive network overhaul that increased capacity across regional call centers while maintaining the reliability essential for accessibility services. I configured and managed Cisco 7000 series switches and routers to optimize voice, data, and video services delivery. The project required balancing technical performance with the unique requirements of Video Relay Services, where communication quality directly impacts deaf and hard of hearing people's ability to connect with hearing family, employers, and emergency services. My redesign significantly improved overall network reliability and directly contributed to higher customer satisfaction scores.
VIDEO RELAY SERVICE OPTIMIZATION PROJECT
CACDHHI led a critical initiative to enhance video quality for Video Relay Services, recognizing that poor video quality could create communication barriers for deaf and hard of hearing customers. I analyzed the existing network performance bottlenecks and implemented targeted improvements to increase video quality and reduce latency. Additionally, I managed the migration from an unreliable legacy web services platform to a more stable in-house system, ensuring continuous service availability. This work required deep understanding of both the technical challenges and the human impact - these services are lifelines for communication, not just convenient features. The improvements I implemented directly translated to better customer experiences and more reliable access to essential communication services.
NATIONAL ISP CONSOLIDATION PROJECT
VERIOI was promoted to Assistant Director to lead one of the most complex network integration challenges in the ISP industry - consolidating 15 separate network infrastructures acquired through multiple company acquisitions into a unified platform serving over 15,000 customers across 15 states. I designed and implemented comprehensive integration strategies that consolidated systems, networks, and staff while maintaining service continuity. Working with a 12-person management team, I directed operations spanning over 1,000 network servers across Chicago, Denver, Detroit, and Miami data centers. I created entirely new processes and procedures to support the consolidated infrastructure, while training and mentoring teams of up to 30 engineers on Verio's unified processes, systems, and culture. This massive undertaking required balancing technical complexity with business continuity, ensuring zero service disruption for thousands of customers during the transition.
MICHIGAN CUSTOMER INSTALLATION EXCELLENCE
VERIOI started as a Customer Installation Engineer and was promoted within six months to Assistant Manager of Customer Installations based on my technical expertise and customer focus. I led teams in planning and implementing data solutions for clients throughout Michigan, becoming known as the "go-to-guy" for immediate resolution of technical and customer service issues. I configured and managed Cisco 6500/7000 series routers and switches while creating comprehensive engineering plans for new customer connections. I was accountable for project success from initial needs assessment through implementation and customer satisfaction, collaborating extensively with telecom and hardware vendors to ensure flawless deployments. My approach emphasized both technical excellence and customer experience, establishing processes that became models for other regional operations.

ANTHONY FUCIARELLI
IT Professional & Former Mentee
"Tom took a chance on developing me as an IT professional when I first started in the field. His knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, database management, and programming was both impressive and inspiring. What made Tom truly exceptional was his ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, patient, and engaging manner. He taught me that it's okay to take a step back from a problem, reassess, ask questions, and make mistakes. That's how you grow and sharpen your skills. He is a loyal, driven professional and someone you absolutely want on your team."
CRYSTAL KRIST
Program Manager / Project Manager at Cisco
"Thomas joined the team and quickly came up to speed and not only handled all that was given to him but took on additional responsibilities. He quickly learned new technologies and was able to greatly assist the client. Thomas helped train up the newer members of the team, found ways to automate existing processes and developed documentation used to train other members. I would love to have Thomas on any of my future projects and cannot recommend him enough."
